A new approach to juvenile justice : an evaluation of family conferencing in Wagga Wagga

Abstract

This book is the outcome of a project funded by the Criminology Research Council. The original title of the project, in the names of Terrence O'Connell and David Moore, was "Evaluating a new initiative in juvenile justice". The report is concerned with family group conferencing. It offers findings from consultation with relevant members of the community together with analyses of the conference process and statistical analyses of recidivism. A theoretical model of conferencing is offered, and a range of recommendations are made concerning the implementation of a conferencing model.
